Eko 2012 Football: Kaduna Women Abandon Match

1 Min Read

The women’s football match between Ogun State and Kaduna State at the Agege Stadium was abandoned yesterday after the Kaduna team disputed a controversial call by the referee.

Ogun was leading 1-0 in the first half when the referee gave a Kaduna player a yellow card after she clashed with an opponent. The decision did not go down well with the Kaduna players and their coaches and they walked off in protest.

Meanwhile, Lagos and Edo ended their encounter goalless also at the Agege Stadium.
In what was the first match of the day played at the venue yesterday, Team Lagos under the tutelage of former Super Falcons goalkeeper Ann Chiejine recorded their first draw since the tournament began, having won all of their previous games (except one against Ogun) with high margins.

This was relatively an even contest but none of the two sides could manage to convert any of the few chances that came their way for the entire duration of the game.
